What is a CTA and why is it needed?
A Consent to Assignment (CTA) which is a formal process organized by AWS. It has an agreement which is required when a customer is looking:
- CTA is needed when the ownership of a payer account is being changed from partner managed ownership and reverting back to under the customer's ownership.
- CTA is needed when a customer wants to retain their structure of an existing AWS Organization. In this scenario the billing and ownership of the payer account changes to the partner along with the root account ownership, the only exception would be if the customer is under the umbrella of a regulated industry exception.
- CTA is needed when a customer is looking to migrate their billing from an existing billing provider to a new billing partner.
How long does a CTA take?
A CTA usually takes a minimum of 2-3 weeks depending how fast the DocuSign is executed and how fast information is collected from the End Customer to prepare a request for a CTA to AWS via their support route.
What information is required for the CTA?
A CTA collects generic information according to which scenario the CTA is being applied to. Here are some listed pieces of information that are required regardless of which scenario a CTA is being requested for: Account IDs, Signatory Email, Reason of CTA, Current / New root email and effective start / end dates.
What happens after a CTA is executed via DocuSign?
If the CTA is being executed for an End customer coming onto the billing service from a direct arrangement or transitioning from another billing partner and after the document has been signed by all parties one of the Cloud Governance Engineers will reach out for an on-boarding call.
If the CTA is being executed for an End customer off-boarding from the billing service, once the document has been signed by all parties one of the Cloud Governance Engineers will reach out for a technical off-boarding call.
